What does wallpapering a room cost?
Wallpapering a room needs pricing based on wall area, surface condition and chosen wallpaper. This guide gives no verified price range per room. Send wall measurements and photos to the wallpapering contractor and request a total price for the described work.
What does wallpapering a 20 m² room cost?
20 m² of floor area is not enough to calculate wallpapering costs. Measure wall lengths and heights before requesting a quote.
A room with 20 m² of floor area has no fixed wall area. A rectangular room measuring 4 × 5 metres and 2.5 metres high has 45 m² before deducting doors and windows: (4 + 5 + 4 + 5) × 2.5. Roll quantity must also account for drop length and pattern matching. This is a worked example, not a quote.
Is wallpaper included, and does ROT apply to wallpapering?
Wallpaper is included only if the quote says so. Ask for wallpaper, adhesive and other materials to be listed separately from labour. This makes clear what you need to buy yourself.
ROT may cover up to 30% of eligible labour including VAT if you meet the conditions. Materials and travel do not qualify. Check the home, ownership and remaining allowance with Skatteverket; do not automatically subtract 30% from the whole quote.
What affects wallpapering prices?
Preparation, wall layout and the chosen wallpaper determine what the quote must include. Document the conditions before comparing contractors.
- Surface: is the old wallpaper firmly attached, and does the wall need repair or smoothing?
- Wallpaper: give the product name and pattern-matching details.
- Details: show corners, recesses, windows and other junctions.
- Access: state which furniture will remain and who will move it.
If the wall will be painted, read about when skim coating is needed. The surface also needs assessing when changing finishes.
Is wallpapering or painting walls cheaper?
The cheapest option can only be determined when both quotes cover the same walls and comparable preparation. Compare totals before ROT, then check how much of each quote is eligible labour.
