What should a roof painting quote state?
The quote must separate painting, preparation and extras. This lets you compare identical scope when assessing price.
- Area and surface: which slopes, material and area the enquiry covers.
- Preparation: what cleaning and other treatment is needed before painting.
- Painting and materials: the chosen system and what labour and material costs cover.
- Access and extras: how the roof is accessed, any repairs and possible timing.
Roof material and previous paint determine treatment
Paint and preparation must suit both roof material and existing surface. Treatment must therefore be chosen specifically for your roof.
For metal roofs, Tikkurila’s Panssari Akva instructions show, for example, how previous treatment and bare metal affect priming. This is a product example, not the system NLL will use on your roof.

Preparation before exterior roof painting
Cleaning and treatment of loose paint must suit the surface and chosen system. Describe growth, peeling and visible damage so preparation and painting can be assessed together.
Request a clear description of included labour. Repairs, reroofing and every possible preparation task are not automatically included in a generic square-metre price.

How is roof painting area calculated?
Price is based on roof area treated, not living area. The calculation must therefore show roof shape and included slopes.
Attach drawings or measured dimensions if available. Mark unchecked figures as approximate. Roof area must be confirmed before finalising the quote.

What does exterior roof painting cost?
NLL Måleri’s exterior roof painting labour rate is 500–750 SEK per m² including VAT before any applicable ROT. Materials and project-specific costs are extra. Condition, area and access need assessing before the final quote.
For those meeting the Swedish Tax Agency’s ROT conditions , the deduction may reach 30% of labour. ROT does not reduce materials. With the full 30% deduction, the labour range is 350–525 SEK per m² including VAT after ROT.
