How much does painting and repairing windows and doors cost?

NLL Måleri's labour price is 1,250–3,750 SEK per window including repairs and 2,500–4,375 SEK per door including repairs, including VAT. Materials are charged separately. Full window restoration is assessed separately and has no fixed standard price in this guide.
The number of units is not enough for a final quote. Also describe their size, condition and which sides need treating. A window price should be used neither as a door price nor as the price for all stages of a full restoration.

Which work does the price list cover?
The price list covers the two items: windows including repairs and doors including repairs. The exact scope needs to be stated in the quote.
The amounts in the table are labour costs including VAT, before any applicable ROT tax deduction. Materials are not included.

List the two types separately even if they are part of the same project. This makes the calculation clearer and prevents the lower window price being used for doors.
Does the price cover inside, outside or both?
The quote must state which sides are included. Specify whether you want the exterior, interior, sashes, frames or several of these treated. Do not assume a price per item automatically includes every surface.
Does a window with several sashes count as one item?
State both window and sash numbers. Describe glazing bars and larger glazed sections. NLL must confirm how your windows are counted before using a unit price in a binding quote.
How much do several windows and doors cost together?
Four windows and one door give an estimated labour cost of 7,500–19,375 SEK including VAT, before any applicable ROT. Materials are extra.

The calculation shows how to use the price list. It does not describe a completed customer project or specify the repairs your windows need.
How are materials priced?
Ask for a separate materials item for the relevant units. A material cost per square metre for larger painted areas cannot automatically become a price per window. Paint, putty and other materials must therefore be specified in the quote.
When is a separate assessment of window restoration needed?
More extensive restoration needs its own task description and separate price. Window condition determines which parts need investigating.
What should be documented on old windows?
Photograph frames, sashes, putty and visible damage. Also describe whether windows open and close properly. Photos help define the enquiry; they do not replace assessment of hidden conditions.
Is full restoration the same service as painting with repairs?
Do not price full restoration by automatically using the window-with-repairs range. Read about NLL’s window restoration and describe your desired result. Then request a price for that specific scope.
What needs comparing between two quotes?
Compare numbers of items, treated surfaces and agreed tasks before comparing totals. In particular:
- Specify windows and doors separately.
- Check which sides and parts are treated.
- Check how repairs and putty work are described.
- Check whether materials, access and any extras are included.
- Check how changes to scope must be approved.

How is a possible ROT tax deduction calculated?
ROT covers up to 30% of eligible labour, not materials, and requires sufficient allowance. See the Swedish Tax Agency's conditions.
In the four-window, one-door example, labour becomes 5,250–13,562.50 SEK after a 30% deduction on all labour, provided the conditions are met. Materials and other possible costs are outside that amount.
